Reno Joins Las Vegas In Not Prosecuting Low-Level Marijuana Possession

Reno's city prosecutor is following the lead of his counterparts in Las Vegas and not prosecuting minor possession of marijuana cases, following the passage of Question 2, according to a report in the Reno Gazette-Journal.

Possession of one ounce of marijuana will become legal in six weeks.

Nevada lawmakers must still work out regulations surrounding the growing, distribution and retail sales of legal recreational marijuana in Nevada. That is expected to take several months.

While the Clark County District Attorney and the City of Reno have said they would not prosecute people possessing a small amount of marijuana, the city attorney of Sparks said he would continue to enforce current drug laws until they change in January.
