BLM Auctioning Off Land For Geothermal Lease

ELKO, Nev. (AP) — The Bureau of Land Management is holding a competitive geothermal lease sale for tens of thousands of acres of land in Nevada, California and Utah.

The Elko Daily Free-Press reports that the auction will take place Wednesday in Sacramento, California.

The Nevada land going up for sale includes nearly 50,000 acres in the Battle Mountain, Carson City, Elko and Winnemucca districts. The property includes 22 parcels of public lands and split estate.

BLM California is auctioning off two parcels totaling 3,500 acres of public lands and federal minerals within the El Centro Field Office.

In Utah, bidders can purchase six parcels totaling about 16,000 acres of public lands and split estate in the Fillmore and Cedar City field offices.

The geothermal leases are for a 10-year period.
