Replacement Assembly Candidates Named

The County Commission meets on Friday to appoint replacements for Erv Nelson and Marilyn Kirkpatrick.

Nelson, who represented District 5, left the Assembly to run for the Nevada State Senate.

District 1's Kirkpatrick was appointed to fill Tom Collins' seat on the Clark County Commission after Collins resigned.

The commission says candidates for District 1's seat comprise of Nathan Atkins, Jo Cato, Louis M. De Salvio, Gary Fisher, Kevin J. Schmidt, Stephanie Smith and Henry Wilczynski.

Those seeking District 5's seat are Ron Coury, R. Garn Mabey, Jr. and Kyle James Stephens

The appointments are being made ahead of an anticipated special session to debate a proposal to build an NFL-ready stadium in Southern Nevada with the hopes of attracting the Oakland Raiders to Las Vegas.
