300 Acres Burns In Adobe Summit Fire

ELKO --  A wildland fire started Friday morning along Mountain City Highway near Adobe Summit, sending smoke toward the Elko area.

The Elko Daily Free Press reportsmotorists on the highway called in the fire around 8 a.m. Initial reports stated wind was pushing the flames toward the east.

There is not an official cause at this time, said Greg Deimel, Bureau of Land Management public affairs specialist for the Elko District.

The fire was estimated to cover approximately 300 acres.

Nevada Highway Patrol temporarily blocked traffic on Mountain City Highway around 9 a.m.

No commercial or residential property damage has been reported at this time, nor has the percentage of containment been identified.
