Nevada Democratic Front Runners Meet For Final House Debate

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Democratic front-runners in a competitive Nevada congressional primary are facing off for their final debate before Election Day on Tuesday.

Former Assemblywoman Lucy Flores, state Sen. Ruben Kihuen and philanthropist Susie Lee participated in a televised debate moderated by political journalist Jon Ralston. Part one aired Wednesday and the second airs Thursday evening on PBS.

The candidates answered criticism about their records and took stances on issues including health care reform and the Iran nuclear agreement.

They're seeking a chance to take the 4th Congressional District seat held by Republican Rep. Cresent Hardy.

Five other Democrats are in the primary, but trail far behind in fundraising. PBS officials said they didn't meet the station's competitiveness criteria for participating in the debate, although at least one candidate is protesting the decision.
