After 16 Years, Elko Motorcycle Jamboree Ends

After 16 years, the Elko Motorcycle Jamboree won't be returning to the northeast Nevada city.

Volunteer event chief Brandie Notestine made the announcement during the weekend event, citing a decline in attendance and sponsorships.

Notestine tells the Elko Daily Free Press the rally had support from the city and Elko police, but lacked support from the downtown community and businesses.

Downtown Business Association President Jon Karr says some businesses closed during the event and some owners complained that attendance had dropped.

Notestine didn't rule out organizing another event, but told the Free Press that board members decided to take at least one year off.
