A group of Basque dancers from Elko will be performing this summer at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington, DC.
The Elko Daily Free Press reports the Basque Dancers of the Great Basin troupe was invited to perform at the festival in part thanks to help from Great Basin College.
The troupe will be part of an area of the festival looking at Basque life in the United States, including a focus on the Basque language and the farming legacy of the group.

The newspaper also reports sheep – a mainstay of Basque life – will also be on display during parts of the festival.
