Stretch Of NV State Route 160 To Be Widened

A stretch of Nevada State Route 160 in southwestern Clark County is being widened.

The Pahrump Valley Times reports NDOT has awarded a $165 million contract to Aggregate Industries SWR, Inc. to widen just over five miles of the road.

The stretch in question is between mile marker 10.89 and mile marker 16.63.

The road will go from two lanes to four.

NDOT is widening the road in part due to a study that shows that particular stretch of State Route 160 is particularly prone to accidents.

The agency says the crash rate between mile markers 11 and 22 on State Route 160 is nearly double the statewide average for similar roadways.

NDOT hopes to have the project done by 2017.
