Collins' Court Date Set

A former Clark County commissioner has a Jan. 11 court date following his arrest on a misdemeanor drunken driving charge in a crash last week near the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.

Prosecutor Brian Rutledge said Monday that charges weren't immediately filed against 65-year-old Tom Collins, pending receipt of blood-alcohol test results and a police report in the case.

Police released a booking photo of the 65-year-old North Las Vegas rancher, who was booked Friday evening under his full name, Clarence Weldon Collins.

Officer Larry Hadfield says Collins was arrested after a crash at Flamingo Road and Koval Lane.

Collins didn't immediately respond to messages.

He resigned in August from the county commission, citing unspecified family matters.

He's also a former Democratic state lawmaker and an enthusiastic rodeo fan.
