Ads In Nevada Senate Race Intensify

Attack ads up in Nevada this week aim to turn presidential debate watchers' attention toward the state's competitive U.S. Senate race.

The Nevada State Democratic Party bought large ads on the Las Vegas Review-Journal's online home page for Tuesday, asking whether Republican Senate candidate Joe Heck supports Donald Trump. The ads link to an online petition demanding the three-term congressman say where he stands on Trump's candidacy.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee is launching three new ads this week attacking Heck's opponent, former Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto.

The commercials will run in English and Spanish in Las Vegas and Reno markets. Two criticize the Democrat for taking dozens of privately funded out-of-state trips during her time as attorney general, and one criticizes her stance on accepting refugees.
