Nevada Health Co-op To Close

The Nevada Health Co-op, a health insurance provider, has decided to shut down.

In a statement Wednesday, the Co-op said it will close on January 1st, but current members will maintain their health coverage through the end of the year.

Come 2016, though, those currently enrolled in Nevada Health Co-op plans will need to find new policies.

The group's board of directors cited "market conditions" as the reason for its closure.

The company said it had enrolled some 14,000 people in 2014 and had experienced growth in enrollment this past year, but not enough to maintain a sustainable enterprise.

The Nevada Health Co-op began providing health insurance in 2014.
