Top Nevada Prosecutors Gather to Tout 'Tough on Crime' Bills

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Attorney General Adam Laxalt and some of the state's top prosecutors are hosting media conferences to tout three "tough on crime" bills they say will help victims and assist in prosecuting violent criminals.

Laxalt and Washoe County District Attorney Chris Hicks are hosting a media conference Wednesday morning in Reno to speak on the bills, which all passed the Legislature.

AB193 would allow so-called hearsay evidence at preliminary hearings but would only apply to sensitive cases like child sex abuse or domestic violence.

AB49 would make it a crime to distribute so-called "revenge porn."

AJR17 is a proposed constitutional amendment that would enact a "victim's bill of rights" and is commonly known as Marsy's Law.

Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson will join a similar Las Vegas event on Thursday.
