Lake Fire Grows to 17,000 Acres in San Bernardino Forest

The high-pressure system of warm, dry air that pushed temperatures into the triple digits in Southern California last week is expected to start drifting away today.

T he Los Angeles Times reportsthe resulting cooler temperatures should help the nearly 2,000 firefighters battling the Lake fire in the San Bernardino Mountains south of Big Bear Lake. The blaze began last Wednesday and has burned more than 17,000 acres. It was 19 percent contained as of Sunday, according to the U.S. Forest Service.
