Judge Appoints Examiner in Bankruptcy of Caesars Division

CHICAGO (AP) — The background of a lawyer investigating the actions of a debt-heavy operating unit of casino giant Caesars Entertainment Corp. before it filed for bankruptcy protection in January includes involvement in the high-profile bankruptcy cases for Enron and Lehman Brothers.

On Wednesday a bankruptcy judge in Chicago appointed 68-year-old Richard J. Davis to be the case's examiner to look into disputed business transfers that some creditors say robbed the division of valuable assets and left them without a guarantee on their investments.

Davis is charging $850 an hour, a $100 discount.
