Assembly GOP to Introduce Alternative to Sandoval Tax Plan

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A group of Nevada Republicans is planning to introduce a hybrid tax plan adopting elements of Gov. Brian Sandoval's proposed business license fee increase.

Assembly Majority Leader Paul Anderson and tax committee chair Assemblyman Derek Armstrong say they plan to introduce the bill on Monday.

Armstrong said the proposal would increase the state's modified business tax and include a small hike in business license fees.

Sandoval's proposal was introduced in the Senate two weeks ago and calls for a tiered business license fee ranging from $400 to $4 million annually.

Senate Democrats introduced their own tax plan last week that calls for a repeal of the modified business tax and imposes a 0.47 percent tax on business gross receipts exceeding $25,000 in a quarter.
