Motor To Sin; What Las Vegas Can Learn From Detroit

In a land far away -- some 2000 miles away -- there sits a place the New York Times once referred to as an “urban wasteland.”

Detroit was ravaged by the recession – but the effort to ignite an economic renaissance in downtown Detroit has been well documented.

Sound familiar?

Las Vegas is also a one-industry city, struggling to make its comeback with a few visionaries at the helm.

KNPR talks about those revitalization efforts in Detroit, and what Las Vegas can learn from them.

On Monday, June 6, the city of Las Vegas and the Downtown Alliance will host a speaker series with leaders from the Detroit area revitalization starting at 5:45 p.m. at the D Las Vegas.
