Settlement Reached In Trial Of Flawed Las Vegas Hotel

Openings statements were cancelled Tuesday in a $500 million civil damages trial pitting casino giant MGM Resorts International against contractors at a never-opened Las Vegas Strip hotel tower.

A settlement was reached, Clark County District Court Judge Elizabeth Gonzalez said. Terms of the agreement between six of the seven parties in the case were confidential.

Gonzalez dismissed a jury seated for a trial that was expected to take at least a year.

General contractor Tutor Perini Corp. argued MGM Mirage failed to pay bills. MGM argued the contractor was responsible for building flaws.
