UNR Enrollment Sets Record

Enrollment at the University of Nevada, Reno is at a record high.  UNR officials said Tuesday they welcomed 19,934 undergraduate and graduate students to the campus this fall — a 6.2 percent increase from 2013.

The addition of 1,158 students marks the second-largest enrollment gain since 2001 when they saw an increase of 1,167. Undergraduate enrollment increased 6.7 percent to a total of 16,330. Graduate enrollment held steady with 2,820 students. School officials say freshmen now account for nearly 10 percent of UNR's total number of students.

UNR President Marc Johnson says it's further evidence that more people are learning about the quality of the school's programs, services, research and education opportunities. He says it underscores the need to keep funding levels up for new facilities and adequate teacher-to-student ratios.
