Reno Woman Gets New Trial After 30 Years In Jail

A judge in Reno Monday ordered a new trial for woman in prison 30 years for a 1976 murder.  Washoe District Judge Patrick Flanagan heard from lawyers for Cathy Woods  that new DNA evidence proves she was innocent in the 1976 slaying of Michelle Mitchell at the University of Nevada, Reno.

Woods had been committed to a mental hospital when she initially confessed to killing Mitchell, but later recanted.  The FBI says new evidence connects Mitchell's death to unsolved killings of five California women during the 1970s.
