Americans Short on Savings

A quarter of American households are in worse financial shape than a year ago.

That's according to a new survey from Bankrate-dot-com. The data shows one in four Americans have no money saved for emergencies, and two-thirds have less than the recommended six months' worth of available savings in case they lose their income. Only 18-percent of people surveyed said they were more comfortable than a year ago. Adults between 30 and 49 were the least likely to have readily available emergency savings.
