Conservationists Continue Fight Against Fracking

A conservation group is taking their fight against fracking in northern Nevada to the next level. The Center for Biological Diversity filed a formal protest against an upcoming oil and gas lease sale near Tonopah and Austin.

According to the Elko Daily Free Press, the center is calling for the Bureau of Land Management to cancel the Nevada lease sales that is set for July. Opponents claim the practice of fracking uses too much water and can contaminate underwater water sources as well as the soil. Proponents argue that responsible tracking can be done with little impact on the environment.
