Former Students Recall Race Riots At Rancho

In the late sixties and early seventies, race riots rocked communities all over the country. Riots erupted in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Watts, in Detroit and at Rancho High School in Las Vegas. The riots at Rancho led to police clashes, arrests and injuries. And they divided the diverse student body at the working class school. Local filmmaker Stan Armstrong, who was also a student at Rancho, recently made a documentary about the riots that will air on local television during black history month. He and other students and historians will join us for a discussion about the cause of the riots, and the impact on the community.
