Mt. Charleston Fire Leaves Increased Risk Of Avalanche

The Mt. Charleston wildfire had many bad outcomes, including leaving residents and skiiers facing an increased risk of avalanche. The site of the Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort in Lee Canyon was not affected by this summer's fires, and is not facing any increased avalanche risk, according to a spokesperson. But the question for backcountry skiers and other outdoor enthusiasts remains: How do they manage avalanche risk? And what do you need to know before you venture out into the snow?
