Big Fundraising Figures for Political Candidates

Quarterly finance reports for political candidates are out. Leading the top of the fundraising list is Democratic Representative Shelley Berkley who raised $1.36 million in the first three months of 2012. Her Republican opponent in the November election, Sen. Dean Heller raised a little more than $1 million.

Congressional candidates also filed financial disclosure reports. Top fundraisers in the first quarter were Assembly Speaker, John Oceguera with $373,000. Danny Tarkanian, who lost a Republican bid for Senate in 2010 raised $344,000 in the race for the newly created 4th congressional district. Nevada Senate Majority Leader, Steven Horsford raised close to $265,000.

As the money pours in to candidates coffers, who is donating and how will it shape the race? We talk with political analyst Jon Ralston about who has the cash and if it will change the race.
