When Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval was elected in 2010 he did it with almost no Latino support. Now he is on the national radar as a possible vice presidential running mate. A rising star in the political world many Republicans say Sandoval is a shining example of how Hispanics are willing to embrace the GOP despite Latinos overwhelmingly voting Democratic. But, Polling firm Latino Decision's Director of Communications, Victoria M. DeFrancesco Soto says Gov. Brian Sandoval's Achilles heel is that while he is Hispanic, he has almost no Hispanic appeal.
Other big Hispanic names talked about for Republican VP are New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio. But, De Francesco Soto says Sandoval is by far the most appealing to Republicans.
We talk with DeFrancesco Soto about whether Brian Sandoval and other prominent Hispanic Republicans are the key to swinging the Latino vote. We also hear about how New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez won support from the majority of Latinos in her state.
