Grammy-Nominated Singer Brenda Russell

Brenda Russell's songs are threaded all through Hollywood's films and some of music's greatest voices. She's written music for "How Stella Got Her Groove Back" and "The Color Purple," and worked with Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Joni Mitchell, and Sting.  The Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter shares the secrets of her inspiration, and what it takes to compose a truly great song.

 

Brenda Russell performs on Saturday, May 7, at 8 p.m. at the Clark County Government Center Amphitheater.  The free show is part of the Jazz in the Park series.
