Whale Hunting in the Desert

Steve Cyr is a superhost, his main job is to get the biggest of the big gamblers, known as whales, to drain their wallets right into the Las Vegas casino cages.

Steve Cyr was born to schmooze, his father was a hotel owner who had a knack for getting big groups to stay at his hotel in Salina, Kansas. During his career as a casino host he's arranged some of Las Vegas' biggest gamblers to have private jets and helicopters whisk them away at a moment's notice. He's arranged expensive meals, show tickets, lavish suites, limos and plenty of liquor and it's all on the casino's dime.

Author Deke Castleman documents Steve Cy's whirlwind life and career in his book Whale Hunt in the Desert: Secrets of a Vegas Superhost. So what was that life like? And do players get treated the same now as they did twenty years ago? Steve Cyr joins us to discuss his life amongst the whales.
