Heads up! Due to a geomagnetic storm this weekend, KNPR's signals may experience intermittent disruptions throughout the state. Our engineers are keeping a close eye on it.

Watch out, Stravinsky... it's the Sinfonietta!

A new music group is in town! Local musicians teamed up to form the Las Vegas Sinfonietta, which will mix classical and contemporary pieces. It kicks off its inaugural concerts on Oct. 22 and 23 with "Stravinsky-esque," a tribute to Bach, Hartmann, and Stravinsky himself. Two of the musicians join us to celebrate Stravinsky and explain how they're changing up the music scene with their new group.

The Las Vegas Sinfonietta will perform a free concert wtih pieces by Stravinsky, Hartmann, and Bach on Friday, Oct. 22, at 7:30 p.m. at UNLV's Doc Rando Hall. It will also perform on Saturday, Oct. 23, at 7:30 p.m. at Green Valley Presbyterian Church.
