CCSD Considering Closing Schools

In order to cut costs, the Clark County School District is considering closing schools.

The Las Vegas Sun reports CCSD is floating the idea of closing three behavioral schools to save around $2.5 million.

It will make a decision today on that proposal.

The schools slated to close are Biltmore Continuation, Morris Behavior and Southwest Behavior.

Students at the schools, along with faculty and staff, would be transferred to other schools in the district if those three close.

CCSD says far fewer students are enrolled in behavioral schools now than in the past, making unnecessary to operate so many of those schools.

Additionally, new diversion programs in regular public schools are filling the gap where behavioral schools once operated.
