It’s just two of them — Meng Su and Yameng Wang. But it’s all you need. The pair of accomplished classical guitarists were separately teenage sensations in their China homeland and in Japan and Europe, where they competed. After they formed Beijing Guitar Duo, their success only grew, as international audiences were awed by the twosome’s complicated but precise fretwork and layering of chord progressions. Catch the Grammy-nominated duo at UNLV.

Las Vegas' music festival scene just got better. Debuting their newest event this fall, Life is Beautiful is introducing a two-day dance party event: A Big Beautiful Block Party. Headliners include crowd favorites such as Thundercat, James Blake, and Toro Y Moi, as well as DJ performances from those including John Talabot and LP Giobbi. Don't miss the only two nights of this unique event with a diversely cultivated mix of genres to listen to. Oh, and anther plus: There will not be overlapping sets during both nights, so attendees will be able to watch each artist's set without worrying about missing another's.

Note: Party dates: Sep. 27-28.

Sept. 27-Nov.3

Ever go through one of those haunted-house attractions during Halloween and think, “Meh, I could make a scarier one?” The young horror enthusiasts of The House on Watch Hill must have, because they set a goal to build “the greatest neighborhood haunted house” ever. And they do — succeeding maybe too well. Vegas Theatre Company executive artistic director Daz Weller helms the world premiere of the latest Richard Oberacker and Robert Taylor musical, an 1980s-soaked fantasia that oughta get you in the mood for the spooky season.

Note: Shows start on September 27; days/dates vary. Please check website for more information.

Inspired by folklore and a mission to tell stories, Sarah Nguyen hopes to bring back the essence of childhood through her work. Sometimes her art is colorful, other times it remains simple. But, the real shine doesn't come from the color. Though she is considered a "multi-media artist," her story telling translates mainly through paper craft. With each cut, one can see how much time Nguyen takes with her process. Her goal is to not necessarily create new narratives, but to form fresher perspectives on cultural memories. The exhibition opens Friday, Sept. 27, and the artist will participate in a virtual talk on Oct. 1.

Note: Art will be displayed Sept.27-Nov. 30.

It’s often said that dance is universal. After all, there’s very little barrier — language or otherwise — between dancing partners performing a pas de deux or tango. Together 8 embodies this idea, as a celebration of the 16-year-long relationship between UNLV Dance and Korea National Sport University in Seoul. Catch the performance, whose ensemble features half UNLV and half KNSU dancers, here in Vegas, before it travels to South Korea.
