Murder-Suicide Puts Clark County Welfare System Under Microscope

After 16-month-old Michell Momox-Caselis was killed earlier this month in an apparent murder-suicide involving her foster father, Clark County’s child welfare system is under scrutiny.

Nevada Supreme Court Justice Nancy Saitta is leading a committee looking in to what some have referred to as a broken system. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Congresswoman Dina Titus have pledged their support to ensure the committee has what they need to examine shortcomings in the Clark County Department of Family Servicesand courts.

But, will it make a difference this time? Ed Cotton is the former administrator of Nevada's Division of Child and Family Services. He has also been a foster parent to a number of children.
