Xerox is quietly pulling out of Nevada.
The company was hired in 2012 by the Silver State Health Exchange to build the Nevada Health Link website, but problems with enrollment and coverage forced the state to dismiss Xerox.
Xerox, however, will continue to operate the site through November when Nevada Health Link will begin using the federal exchange to sell insurance. But the website contractor has reassigned key employees to other states and reduced staffing in its Henderson call center, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
So what’s next for the Affordable Care Act in Nevada? And what impact will Xerox’s slow shut down have on consumers who still need help with their insurance this year.
Review-Journal business reporter Jennifer Robison tells KNPR that some insurance brokers say between 9,000 to 12,000 consumers might still have enrollment, billing and effective-date issues.
Xerox spokeswoman Jennifer Wasmer told the Review-Journal the company will continue to “support Nevadans seeking access to affordable health until such a resolution is reached.”
