Las Vegas Sands Goes To Japan

Las Vegas Sands Chairman and CEO Sheldon Adelson led the charge into Macau, and he seems to be in the lead as the Japanese government ponders whether to legalize casinos. Some forms of gambling are already legal, but nothing like casino-gaming on the Las Vegas model. That did not stop Adelson announcing with much fanfare that he was hoping to spend $10 billion to build a couple of casinos and convention centers in Japan. The company opened an office in Tokyo, and other big casino operators are also eyeing the potential of the Japanese casino market, which is billed to be second only to Macau.
