Last month, gang informant Raul “Sparks” Gonzales became a suspect in the murder of Eric Paul Montoya.
Gonzales was facing life in prison but accepted a plea deal that allowed him to go free in exchange for giving the police information on his fellow 28 th Street Gang members. Gonzales was ordered to stay out of trouble and stay in contact with the police, but he did neither.
Should Metro have kept closer tabs on Gonzales? What is the role of the informant in gang culture? And how is the gang culture in Las Vegas evolving?
