Local Journalist Wins Fight For Legal Protection

It was a juicy story: The son of a former governor accused of ethical and financial impropriety in the operation of a lending operation called Aspen Financial. And when journalist Dana Gentry started covering it, she never imagined the legal web would eventually entrap her too. But a few years ago, lawyers for Jeff Guinn, the owner of Aspen Financial, issued a subpoena based on accusations that Gentry had taken favors for her reporting. The Nevada Supreme Court ultimately decided that Gentry didn't have to testify -- validating the state's shield law for journalists. She joins us to talk about the caseand why the shield law is important.
