Summerlin Hospital Failed To Take Basic Steps To Prevent TB Outbreak

Employees at Summerlin Hospital failed to take basic steps to prevent an outbreak of tuberculosis earlier this year. A woman with the illness visited her newborn twins in the neonatal intensive care unit while running a 103-degree fever. It is unclear whether she was asked to wear a mask and gown. The disease spread to more than two dozen people who had contact with the patient, who died in July. So what can be done to prevent another outbreak in the future? And can the state step in to insure safety at the hospital?
