The congressional "super committee" charged with cutting the federal deficit by $1.2 trillion over ten years is fast approaching a November 23 deadline. If the bi-partisan committee doesn't reach a deal, automatic across the board spending cuts will start in 2013. UNR Economics Chair, Elliot Parker recently traveled to Washington D.C. to speak with Democratic lawmakers about the debt deal.
