    Trooper Shot, Vehicle Stolen, Man Held In Northeast Nevada

    ELY, Nev. (AP) — Authorities say a highway patrol trooper was shot, his patrol vehicle was stolen and a suspect was arrested with possible explosives several hours later in a remote area of northeastern Nevada.

    Minor Earthquake Hits Near Ely

    Mar 08, 2017

    A minor earthquake shook parts of east-central Nevada about 75 miles west of the Utah line, but there were no immediate reports of any damages or injuries.

    The magnitude 3.1 temblor hit about 9 miles west of Ely and about 18 miles southwest of McGill at about 10:50 a.m. Wednesday.

    Water Grab Two

    The Southern Nevada Water Authority is allowed to pump tens of thousands of acres of water from the rural regions of Northwestern Nevada.  State engineer, Jason King, decided that the water authority has the right to pump more than eighty thousand acres a year from Lincoln and White Pine Counties.

    Ely City and White Pine County: Will They Consolidate?

    The White Pine County wants the county to consolidate with the city of Ely... but Ely isn't too happy about the idea. The Ely City Council thinks the White Pine measure is inappropriate, and could eventually force Ely to disincorporate. So why push for consolidation? What's the advantage? And why might it wipe Ely off the map? Also, is this a precursor for incorporation here in Clark County?
