Latin Jazz legend Poncho Sanchez was brought up playing music with the likes of Cal Tjader and Dizzy Gillespie. Sanchez taught himself to play the congas and is now one of the world's best known Latin Jazz band leaders.
Famous for her 1984 hit "Let's Hear it For The Boy" Deniece Williams will perform at The Smith Center for Performing Arts with Artist-in-Residence Clint Holmes this weekend at Cabaret Jazz. Williams, who made her name on the pop charts, is an accomplished gospel singer and has performed with artists like Johnny Mathis and Stevie Wonder.

The Smith Center for The Performing Arts opens its doors this weekend with a black tie gala to celebrate the debut of one of downtown Las Vegas' biggest cultural and redevelopment project.
