    Douglas County Commission Denies Appeal For Slaughterhouse

    MINDEN, Nev. (AP) — The Douglas County Commission has denied an appeal by a group of ranchers who want to open a slaughterhouse on the edge of Gardnerville.

    USDA Denies Poultry Industry's Request To Speed Up The Slaughter Line

    The National Chicken Council says a faster line speed would increase efficiency and modernize systems. Food safety advocates are calling the move a victory for both workers and consumers.

    In 2015, federal regulators began requiring injuries to be reported within 24 hours. Nebraska Appleseed, a worker advocacy group, handed out these pamphlets to inform workers of the new rule.
