Companies ranging from General Motors to UPS are exiting or reducing their operations in Russia as wide-ranging sanctions make it all but impossible to operate in the country.
"Finally, there is some justice for the Nigerian people suffering the consequences of Shell's oil," said Eric Dooh, one of the Nigerian farmers who sued Shell.
Shell CEO Ben van Beurden says he wants the U.S. to remain in the 2015 Paris climate accord. Energy companies like Exxon Mobil and BP have also urged President Trump to continue supporting the deal.
The company is the latest industry giant to report huge drops in earnings from 2014 to 2015. BP, Exxon and Chevron have also seen their revenues fall steeply.
The Department of the Interior announced that it is canceling scheduled lease sales of land in the Arctic Ocean. It also won't extend existing leases held by Shell and Statoil.
