    San Francisco OKs Patient-Dumping Lawsuit Settlement

    SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — San Francisco supervisors have accepted a $400,000 payment from Nevada to settle allegations that psychiatric patients were wrongly shipped to California upon discharge.

    The Board of Supervisors Tuesday approved the settlement without comment.

    Following Scandal, Psychiatric Patients Crowd Local Emergency Rooms

    Disruption at Rawson-Neal following the busing scandal has caused a backlog of psychiatric cases at local emergency rooms. Last week, University Medical Center declared an "internal disaster" due to the large volume of mentally ill patients. The state placed a psychologist at the hospital to help manage the influx. Is it enough? And how can the hospital help open beds for patients with physical problems?

    End Of The Road For Patient Busing
