The Nevada Department of Transportation is opening Pyramid Lake Highway after completing the majority of flood damage repairs.
State Route 446 has been closed since flooding damaged much of the roadway, caving in one 50-foot section of the highway and washing out 10 other areas.
The Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe estimates that it will have to dish out about $3.9 million to cover the damage done to local roadways, ditches and the lake’s shorelines after heavy rainfall in January and February.
