    NV Energy Seeks $30 Million In Rate Cuts In Nevada Oct. 1

    Governor Names Nevada Utilities Commissioner To Chair Panel

    CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — The most senior member of the Nevada Public Utilities Commission has been named its chairwoman.

    Gov. Steve Sisolak announced Thursday that Ann Pongracz will head the three-member regulatory panel, at least through the term ending Sept. 30.

    A press release from Governor Steve Sisolak's office says Ann Wilkinson is stepping down March 22 “to pursue new opportunities.”

    PUC Questions Southwest Gas Request To Raise Rates

    A state review of Southwest Gas found the utility wants to raise its rates to pay for costs associated with questionable expenditures.

    In May, Southwest Gas applied to the Public Utilities Commission to increase rates for each customer by $2 to $3 per month.

    NV Energy Coal Plan Has Critics

    May 21, 2013

    NV Energy's plan to move away from coal and invest more in renewable energy has a lot of powerful supporters, including U.S. Sen. Harry Reid and Governor Brian Sandoval. But it has some critics as well, including former Attorney General of Nevada Frankie Sue Del Papa, who is worried about NV Energy earning profits at the expense of ratepayers. She joins us to talk about her concerns, and what she would like to see in the final bill.
