SPARKS, Nev. (AP) — The Sparks Nugget has been ordered to pay a $1 million civil fine after the northern Nevada hotel-casino admitted violating federal anti-money laundering regulations.
Court filings have revealed a federal investigation into the financial practices of The Nugget in Reno under the ownership of the Ascuaga family.
A casino company with holdings in southern Nevada is buying the Nugget Casino Resort in Sparks.
Marnell Gaming LLC confirmed the deal late Wednesday but declined to disclose the terms of the pending sales agreement.
