    Lawyers Seek Higher Wage For Nevada Inmates Doing State Work

    LAS VEGAS (AP) — A lawsuit claims state inmates who perform manual labor outside correction facilities are paid well below Nevada's minimum wage of $8 per hour, making their work akin to slave labor.

    Nevada's Minimum Wage To Increase July 1

    Nevada's minimum wage is set to go up on July 1.

    The Nevada Department of Business and Industry sent an email reminder to employers yesterday that the state will increase the minimum to $8 an hour for employees with qualified health benefits and $9 an hour for those without benefits.

    The Assembly Commerce and Labor committee amended and approved SB 193 on a party-line vote on Friday, with Democrats opposing.
