Thedrick Andres has stepped in as the acting police chief in Henderson after the city fired LaTesha Watson.
After being on administrative leave for almost a month, Henderson police chief LaTesha Watson has been fired.
Watson was on leave since March, after an independent investigator recommended officials consider firing her.
HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — The police chief in Nevada's second-largest city is on unpaid leave, amid reports that she balked at signing a separation contract that would have her resign in May and agree not to disparage the city.
Henderson Police Chief LaTesha Watson was placed on administrative leave by the city earlier Thursday.
Deputy Police Chief Thedrick Andres will serve as acting police chief until further notice.
A city spokeswoman did not give a reason for the action.
Henderson paid more than $50,000 last year to investigate their chief of police, but none have found significant wrongdoing.
Chief LaTesha Watson was the subject of 10 internal investigations in less than one year on the job.
LaTesha Watson is the first black person and only the second female to be chief of the Henderson Police Department.
