But one researcher says athletes shouldn’t focus on mechanical things – Kobe Bryant shouldn’t think about how he flicks his wrist for a hoop shot, and Michael Phelps shouldn’t think about the technique on pulling his hand back through the water.
In the commercial for Sketchers "Shape-Ups" shoes, a beautiful actress twirls around, happy that her shoes provide extra tone and workout her muscles (right as the camera zooms in on her butt). But are Shape-Ups better than the average shoe? UNLV professor John Mercer doesn't think so.
