    Nevada Getting Nearly $12M For Homeland Security Efforts

    LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada is getting nearly $12 million in federal grants to ramp up its homeland security efforts and prevent terrorist attacks.

    Sen. Harry Reid announced the awards Wednesday. The grants are effective for the fiscal year that starts in July.

    Reno Police Use Grant To Buy New Crash Investigation Tools

    RENO, Nev. (AP) — The Reno Police Department has purchased new 3-D crash reconstruction equipment with a recent $65,000 grant.

    The Reno Gazette-Journal reports that the department's Major Accident Investigation Team received the grant from the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety.

    Nevada Gets $1.5M Grant To Fight Food Stamp Fraud

    CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada is getting $1.5 million from the federal government to crack down on food stamp fraud.

    The state's welfare division was one of three agencies nationwide to get the grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
