The Clark County Commission wants to put tighter restrictions on panhandlers, unlicensed vendors and sidewalk entertainers on the Strip. The County's Strip Corridor Working Group spent six months examining the experience on the Strip came up with a list of suggestions for cleaning up the Strip. Among their recommendations are more frequent trash can emptying, more police and surveillance and time and place restrictions for activities on public sidewalks. We talk with a County Commissioner and legal experts about how these changes might be implemented.
The Nevada Gaming Commission voted to redefine what it means to be a tavern in Nevada. In doing so the commission has put an end to the business model used by the successful Dotty's Gaming and Spirit chain, which operates 60 locations across southern Nevada.
The troubled Harmon Tower at CityCenter was deemed so structurally unfit that an earthquake would likely take the building down. Now, MGM Resorts has said they will demolish the building before anyone ever steps foot in it.

Clark County Commissioner Susan Brager was recently appointed the new chairwoman of the commission. She'll replace outgoing chair Rory Reid. She joins us to discuss some of the pressing issues for the state's largest county including foreclosures, development and the budget.
Mary Beth Scow is one of four Democrats running for the party's nomination to replace Rory Reid on the Clark County Commission. Reid is running for governor in November. Scow was term-limited off the Clark County School District Board of Trustees. We will talk to her about her plans for the commission and her earlier work on the school board.
